There are a lot of businesses where you can print any pattern you would like on to numerous fabric options. But if you’re wondering how to get started, here is a step by step guide to printing your own fabric.
1) Find, make, or have made a file with the design
If you are wanting to get yardage printed you’ll be looking for a seamless file. A seamless file can be repeated over and over and nobody will be able to tell where the print starts and ends. Unless you have a design that is specially designed to be the front of a swimsuit etc, you will likely want a seamless file.
You can do a lot of searching for files, I recommend starting with etsy. Use key words about the style or themes you are looking for, and make sure to include “seamless file” in your search terms. If you find a graphic designer whose style you like but they don’t have exactly what you are looking for, find out if they do custom designs, it may cost you more so it all depends on how badly you want a specialty print.

2) Determine the right kind of fabric for your project
You need to decide what type of fabric you want to get printed. If multiple types of fabric are possible for your project, I recommend getting some sample packs of fabric bases from different printers to help you decide.
3) Decide which printer to use
Look through this list of fabric printers and see which ones carry the fabric base you want. If your fabric is available at multiple printers then you have options! If it is only available at one then your decision will be easier.
4) Follow their order steps
Each printer has their steps very clearly written on their website. If you are worried about your scale, or any other aspects of your print don’t be afraid to reach out to the company. They will be more able to help you if you reach out before placing your order, once you’ve placed your order they could print it before they see your contact.
